
Women’s Tennis Set for ITA Kick-Off Weekend

RALEIGH — The NC State women's tennis team will travel to the west coast for the ITA Kick-Off Weekend hosted by No. 3 Pepperdine in Malibu, Calif., to compete among an elite group of NCAA Division I programs.
The event, which includes 60 teams nationally at 15 different sites, will determine this year's qualifiers for the ITA National Team Indoor Championships on Feb. 10-13 hosted by Yale University.
The No. 1 seed team in each site will face the No. 4 seed team, while the No. 2 seed team will face the No. 3 seed team. Teams are guaranteed to play two matches, with the winners/losers facing each other on the second day of competition.
Play will begin on Saturday, Jan. 28 as the third-seeded Wolfpack is set to go head-to-head with Arkansas (No. 2 seed) at 5 P.M. E.T, while Pepperdine (No. 1 seed) and UNLV (No. 4 seed) will also face off.
On Sunday, NC State will then play either Pepperdine at 1 P.M. E.T. or UNLV at 4 P.M. E.T., depending on the outcome of Saturday's matches.
Last Time Out
The Wolfpack opened up its season by shutting out Appalachian State and Campbell, earning a pair of 7-0 victories.
Scouting Arkansas
-The Razorbacks currently hold a 2-0 record after sweeping their doubleheader during their opening weekend, taking down both Saint Louis and Southern Illinois.
-Senior Shannon Hudson, who has two wins in the spring season, is currently ranked No. 98 the ITA poll.
-The program finished the season ranked No. 36 in last year's ITA Division I poll.
Scouting Pepperdine
-The program will begin its 2017 dual season with the Kick-Off.
-Three from Pepperdine are ranked in singles play. Luisa Stefani, Ashley Lahey and Mayar Sherif-Ahmed currently hold the No. 8, No. 21 and No. 22 ranks, respectively.
-Two Wave doubles pairs are currently ranked. Christine Maddox and Mayar Sherif-Ahmed sit at No. 3 while Luisa Stefani and Jean Runglerdkriangkrai are ranked No. 8.
-Last year the team finished 9th nationally and is currently No. 3.
Scouting UNLV
-Currently 2-0 this season.
-No. 48 Carol Zi Yang is 2-0 in 2017.
-Ended the 2016 season ranked No. 52.
