Late Rally Falls Short Against Wake Forest

RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State men's basketball team fell to Wake Forest 93-88 at PNC Arena Saturday afternoon. With the loss, NC State is now 13-7 (2-5 ACC). Wake Forest improves to 12-7 (3-4 ACC).
Abdul-Malik Abu led five Pack players in double figures with 20 points. Dennis Smith recorded his third double-double of the season with 15 points and 13 assists. Maverick Rowan added 13 points and eight rebounds. Torin Dorn had 13 points and Terry Henderson added 11. This marks the 12th time in 20 games this season the Pack had at least four players score in double figures.
In a back-and-forth game with eight ties and eight lead changes, the Pack attempted a furious comeback attempt down nine points with 52 seconds remaining. Henderson drilled a pair of 3-pointers to bring the Pack within three points.
NC State got within two points, 89-87 with 17 seconds remaining, but Wake Forest made its final four foul shots to seal the win.
The Demon Deacons went 29-for-33 from the free throw line, and like NC State, place five players in double digits scoring. John Collins led the Demon Deacons with 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting.

The Wolfpack travels to No. 18 Duke on Monday for its first road game since Jan. 11. The game will tip-off at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN.
