NC State claims top-10 victories in consecutive games for first time since 1998

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – By outscoring the Seminoles 24-12 over the course of the final 10 minutes, the NC State women's basketball team (12-3, 2-0 ACC) earned its second straight victory over an opponent ranked in the national top six on Monday evening, defeating No. 6 Florida State by a final score of 70-61.
The win was NC State's third in a row and second consecutive over a highly-ranked conference opponent, as the Wolfpack defeated No. 2 Notre Dame 70-62 in Raleigh on Dec. 29 to open Atlantic Coast Conference play.
"I couldn't be prouder of this team," NC State head coach Wes Moore said in his postgame press conference. "Florida State has got to be one of the top three or four teams in the country. Watching film on them it is apparent how talented they are and how great their coach is.
"We knew this was going to be a really big challenge. Our kids have stepped up over the last few games and played unbelievably hard. We knew that Florida State was good in transition and on the offensive boards. Our kids fought hard, and though we lost second chance points by a margin of 17-5, I thought for the most part we did a good job of rebounding and in defending in transition."
Dominique Wilson led the Wolfpack with 19 points. The redshirt senior struggled from the field at a mark of 2-12, but went a spotless 14-14 from the free throw line. She was joined in double figures by 17 points from Chelsea Nelson and 12 from Miah Spencer. Nelson tied for a game high with 12 rebounds to record her sixth double-double of the season and went an impressive 8-10 from the field.
Florida State's Leticia Romero led all scorers with 20 points on 7-17 shooting. She was joined in double figures by 12 points from Chatrice White. Ivey Slaughter tied Nelson with 12 rebounds.
