No. 11 NC State Rifle Set for First Match of 2017 at No. 12 Army

RALEIGH, N.C. – Following nearly a two-month break in competition, the 11^th-ranked NC State rifle team is set to open its 2017 slate in West Point, N.Y., this weekend. The Wolfpack will take on the host No. 12 Army Black Knights Saturday and No. 8 Nebraska Sunday.

Action is set to get underway at 9 a.m. on both days of competition inside the Tronsrue Marksmanship Center.

The Pack enters the weekend with a 6-4 overall record on the season, including a 3-2 mark in Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) action. Both Army and Nebraska are members of the GARC.

Army heads into the match with a 3-4 overall mark and a 1-3 mark in conference action, while Nebraska is 5-1 and 2-1 in league matches.

Last season in New York, NC State broke the program record at the time with a score of 4665 to defeat No. 3 Kentucky and then took down the host Black Knights the following day with a clip of 4653.

The Wolfpack came up short against Nebraska last season at The Citadel, dropping a 4666-4636 decision versus the Cornhuskers.
