Wolfpack Set for Thursday Night Match at ECU

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State women's soccer team is set to continue its non-conference slate with a match at ECU. The Wolfpack and Pirates will square off Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Stuart Johnson Soccer Stadium in Greenville, N.C.

NC State enters the match on form with three straight wins and 10 goals in its last three matches. The Pack holds a 4-2-0 record on the season.

Scouting the Pirates:
ECU enters the match with a 2-4-0 record, and is led by Lana Spitler and Courtney Cash. The two have combined for seven goals. Cash leads the team with nine points from three goals and three assists, while Spitler has tallied four goals for eight points this season.

Pack in the Rankings:
The Wolfpack checked in at No. 10 in the NSCAA Southeast Regional Poll, marking its season debut in the regional rankings. The Pack earned a pair of wins over previously undefeated teams, defeating High Point, 4-2, on Thursday and earning a, 2-0, road win at UNCW on Sunday.

The dangerous NC State offensive unit has made waves in the ACC and NCAA statistical rankings. The Pack ranks 26th in the NCAA in scoring offense with 2.67 goals per match. The team is ranked in the top-25 in total assists, total goals, total points and assists per game.

Ricarda Walkling leads the team with four assists, which is tied for second in the ACC and ranked 13th in the NCAA. Jackie Stengel is team's leading scoring with five goals. She is ranked second in the ACC and 17th in the NCAA.

NC State has struck quickly from the start and re-start of matches this season. The enhanced focus on the first 15 minutes of each period has paid off for the Pack with eight goals coming in the first 15' of the first or second half.

The Pack's two German players – Walkling and Kristina Schuster – have provided seven of the Pack's 14 assists this season. Walkling leads the team with four assists – including two assists in the last three matches. Schuster has added three assists off the right flank with two coming in the last two matches.Â

The NC State scoring offense is paced by five multi-goal scorers. Three freshmen and a pair of upperclassmen have recorded at least two goals in the recent finishing frenzies this season.
