McGee Advances to Cary Tennis Championships Final

CARY, N.C. - Former Wolfpacker James McGee added his seventh win in a row with a big upset win in the semifinals of the Cary Tennis Championships over No. 1 seed and World No. 126 Dennis Novikov, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.
McGee produced a come-from-behind three-set thriller for the 131-place upset. McGee is currently ranked No. 257 in the ATP world standings. He earned his way to the final after fighting through the qualifying round and defeating two seeded opponents along the way.
He will play the No. 8 overall seed and World No. 175 Ernesto Escobedo in the final. Escobedo won in three sets and a tiebreaker over the No. 2 seed to advance.
The final of the 50k tournament will be played Sunday at the Cary Tennis Center.
