Meet Info
RALEIGH N.C.- The NC State cross country program will begin its season Friday at the 23rd adidas XC Challenge held at Wake Med Park in Cary, N.C. Races are scheduled to begin at 5:35 p.m where the team will look to sweep the meet once again after doing so the last two years.
The adidas XC Challenge will follow the same format as the 2015 competition, featuring five different races over two days of competition. Friday's competition will be solely colleigate racing, where the Wolfpack will compete in the men's 6k race and the women's 5k race. High school 5k races will be held Saturday.
The team will aim to run in pack formation, just as they have in years past. Last year, the Wolfpack had six and seven runners finish among the top 15 for the men's and women's teams, respectively.
Pack in the Polls:
The Wolfpack women will enter the competition ranked fifth nationally by the USTFCCCA. On the men's side, the team sits as the 27th ranked team, after moving up three spots from their preseason rank, No. 30.
The Competition:
Last year the team swept both sides of competition, but will be challenged by fellow ACC schools UNC, Florida State and Virginia. The UVA squad is ranked as the 13th men's program and 14th women's program in the nation by USTFCCCA. Other competition includes Campbell, College of Charleston, East Carolina, Elon, Gardner-Webb, High Point, N.C Central, NC AT&T and Wake Forest.

What to Watch For:
A host of runners will also compete unattached, as they look to solidify spots in NC State's line up for the rest of the season and earn college racing experience. No true freshmen will wear the Wolfpack uniform at the meet, but instead run unattached to preserve their eligibility.
Aubrey Myjer, Ben Barrett and Kyle Christ will run in uniform for the first time in their respective Wolfpack careers. On the women's side, Theresa Enright and Megan Vaughn will also make career debuts for the Pack in uniform.
Last year, Ryen Frazier set the women's 5,000m course record in 16:06.4. A host of talented Wolfpack women can chase the time.
