NC State Hosts Elon Tuesday Evening

RALEIGH – The NC State men's soccer team closes out a three-match home stand Tuesday evening when Elon comes to town. Kickoff between the Wolfpack and Phoenix is set for 7 p.m. from Dail Soccer Stadium with live coverage provided by the ACC Network Extra.

A WIN ON TUESDAY WOULD...

SERIES HISTORY
-Tuesday's match marks the seventh meeting between NC State and Elon.
-NC State holds a 5-1 advantage in the series.
-The teams last met on Sept. 21 of the 2005 season, with NC State earning a 3-1 victory over the Phoenix in Raleigh.
SCOUTING THE PHOENIX
-Elon enters Tuesday's match the owner of a 3-1-1 record.
-The Phoenix has picked up wins over UNC Asheville (4-1), St. Bonaventure (6-0), and Detroit (1-0). Elon has lost to San Diego (1-2) and has drawn College of Charleston (1-1) in its most recent match, the Colonial Athletic Association opener on Sept. 10.
-Elon has outscored its opponents 13-4 this season and is led offensively by five goals from Elijah Agu.
-The Phoenix was selected to finish third in the CAA this season.
-Elon advanced to the second round of the 2015 NCAA Tournament, defeating Winthrop 3-0 before falling 5-2 to eventual tournament runner-up Clemson.
LAST MATCH
In arguably NC State's best performance of the young season, the Wolfpack outshot visiting No. 6 Syracuse by a 15-10 margin but ultimately fell to the unbeaten Orange by a final count of 2-0 on Sept. 9. Ade Taiwo led the Wolfpack with four total shots on the evening. Both Syracuse goals came from set pieces: a penalty in the 16th minute and a corner kick in the 74th.
