RICHMOND, Va. – The NC State men's soccer team ended the preseason portion of its 2016 season on a high note Saturday afternoon, earning a shutout victory over VCU.
Goals in the 22nd minute from newcomer Lukas Zarges and in the 78th minute from sophomore Julius Duchscherer proved to be the difference in the Wolfpack's victory over the Rams. Entering the match, VCU was receiving votes in the first NSCAA Top-25 poll.
NC State officially opens the 2016 season against Radford at the JMU Invitational on Friday, August 26 at 5 p.m. The Wolfpack will then play tournament host James Madison on Sunday, Aug. 28 at 4:30 p.m.
