Bettel, Overbey Named WGCA All-American Scholars

Overbey earns second mention in as many years
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla.- Leonie Bettel and Cecily Overbey of the NC State women's golf team were named WGCA All-American Scholars for the 2015-16 season on Tuesday by the Women's Golf Coaches Association.
For Overbey this marks her second mention in as many years, while this is Bettel's first honor.
Bettel, a Vienna, Austria native, saw action in seven tournaments during her first season with the Wolfpack, highlighted by two top-25 finishes at the Cougar Classic and Landfall Tradition. She carded a 75.81 stroke average as she posted three rounds of even par or better.
Overbey, a sophomore from High Point, N.C., also competed in seven tournaments while compiling a 77.21 stroke average. She earned top-30 finishes at the Gator Invitational and Tar Heel Invitational, posting a 71 on three separate occasions.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50.
