Ko Completes Play At Portland Classic, Heads To US Women's Open

Rising sophomore qualified for two LPGA tournaments
PORTLAND, Ore.- NC State women's golf's Naomi Ko wrapped up play at her first of two professional tournaments on Sunday at the Portland Classic, held at Columbia Edgewater Country Club in Portland, Ore.
The rising sophomore managed to make the cut at the prestigious professional tournament as she finished 71st in the final standings. She carded a four-day total of 296 (+8), highlighted by a second-round score of 69. She also posted scores of 76, 78 and 73 throughout the week.
Ko now heads to San Martin, Calif., to compete in the 2016 United States Women's Open, which is slated to run July 7-10 at CordeValle.
Rated as a top-50 championship course, Cordevalle will be played at more than 6,700 yards. Ko will play with the top players in the world, as this is the third of five LPGA majors to be played in 2016.
The Victoria, British Columbia native, won the sectional qualifier in Dupont, Wash., as she posted a 36-hole score of 141 (74-67) to advance to the major tournament.
