Overbey Qualifies For 2016 US Women’s Amateur

Rising junior fires three-under par 68
LEXINGTON, N.C.- Rising junior Cecily Overbey of the NC State women's golf team continued her streak of strong summer play on Monday as she qualified for the 2016 United States Women's Amateur Championship.
Held at Sapona Ridge Country Club in Lexington, N.C., Overbey finished in a tie for second place at the qualifying site with a 68 (-3). The top 10 finishers along with two alternates advanced to the national tournament.
Fellow teammates Sarah Bae and Stephanie Pribonic had respective showings at the qualifier as both golfers posted a 73 (+2) to finish in a tie for 18th place. Pack alum Caroline Ellington also competed as she shot 75 to finish in a tie for 34th.
The U.S. Women's Amateur will be held Aug. 1-7 at Rolling Green Golf Club in Springfield, Pa. There will be 36 holes of stroke play contested, and the top 64 in the standings will advance to match play.
