Kramer, Perry Nominated For NCAA Woman Of The Year Award

Both were prominent members of the Pack’s cross country and track and field teams
RALEIGH- Kaitlyn Kramer and Alexis Perry of the NC State cross country and track and field teams have been nominated for the 2016 NCAA Woman of the Year award.
The NCAA Woman of the Year award honors graduating female college athletes who have exhausted their eligibility and distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers in academics, athletics, service and leadership.
Kramer, a Charlotte, N.C., native, is a standout athlete with the Wolfpack's cross country team and also a member of the track and field team.
She played a vital role this season with the Pack's XC team as she helped the program finish second at the 2015 ACC Championship and earn its 32nd NCAA Championship appearance. At the national championship she was the Wolfpack's sixth-place runner, helping to edge out Michigan and finish fifth in the team standings to mark the highest placement since 2001.
The distance standout recently graduated as the university's valedictorian with a 4.0 grade point average and Summa Cum Laude honors. In the 2015 cross country season she earned All-ACC, All-ACC Academic and CoSIDA Academic All-District honors. She additionally was a recipient of the 2016 ACC Postgraduate Scholarship and named NC State's Scholar Athlete of the Year, while earning ACC Honor Roll and Dean's List honors from 2012-16 and All-ACC Academic Team honors in 2013.
On top of her strong academic resume, she was a member of Omega Chi Epsilon and Tau Beta Pi.
Perry, a Durham, N.C., native, holds several athletic and academic honors from her track career with the Wolfpack. She recently concluded her outdoor track career as a four-time All-American and the first athlete in program history to earn honors in the 100m hurdles and long jump.
From her indoor and outdoor careers she holds a combined 12 First and Second Team All-ACC honors in her respective events, highlighted by a first-place finish in the long jump at the 2015 Indoor ACC Championships.
Along with her numerous accolades on the track she was a two-time Arthur Ashe Scholarship Award recipient, named to the 2013 and '14 Indoor and Outdoor Track All-ACC Academic Teams as well as the USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams both years.
As she leaves NC State as a school record holder in the outdoor long jump and holds the second-best times in program history in three other events, Perry has qualified for the USATF Olympic Trials in the long jump and 100m hurdles.
Both Kramer and Perry were heavily involved on campus and in the local community while they attended NC State.
