BATON ROUGE - The NC State women's golf team trimmed 14 shots off its previous total on the final day of the NCAA Baton Rouge Women's Golf Regional on Saturday. Naomi Ko fired a 4-under 68 to lead the Wolfpack in the final round.
NC State's season came to an end on Saturday, as the Pack placed 12th in the 18-team regional. The top six teams (South Carolina, Florida, Duke, Washington, Oregon, BYU) and three individual players will advance to the 2016 NCAA Women's Golf Championship in Eugene, Ore., at the end of the month.
FINAL REGIONAL RESULTS
Rachael Taylor tied for 30th overall and was the top scorer for the Wolfpack, which was making its 14th NCAA Regional appearance in 16 years. Ko's Saturday performance was the third-best round of any player in the field.
The young Wolfpack squad, ranked in the top 30 nationally for much of the year, figure to be a team on the rise. The Pack returns its entire team save Taylor, the team's lone senior. The team started three freshmen in the regional lineup and have young contributors Cecily Overbey and Laura Kowohl also set to return.
