Stephen Franken Earns PING All-Region Honors

RALEIGH – Stephen Franken of the NC State men's golf team has been named to the Division I PING All-Region East Team for the 2015-16 season, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced recently.

Just a freshman, Franken played in 11 of NC State's 13 tournaments, leading the team with a 71.8 stroke average per 18 holes. He earned seven finishes in the top 20 of tournament fields and two within the top 10. His best finish of the season was a third-place result (205, -8) at the Wolfpack Spring Intercollegiate. In just his second collegiate tournament, he placed fourth (207, -9) at the Quail Valley Invitational. His best round of the season was a 66 (-6), achieved at the Schenkel Invitational, and his best 54-hole score of the season was a 205 (-8), achieved at the Wolfpack Spring Intercollegiate. Throughout the season, 19 of his 32 rounds were shot at or under par and a very impressive 29 of his 32 rounds counted towards the team score in official competition.
