Wolfpack Softball Splits Doubleheader with Virginia Tech

NC State wins game one, 2-1, and comes up short in game two, 8-7
RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State softball team split a pair of games against the Virginia Tech Hokies Saturday afternoon at Dail Stadium. The Wolfpack won game one of the twin bill, 2-1, and came up short in game two, 8-7.
NC State moves to 8-9 on the season and 1-1 in Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play, while Virginia Tech improves to 6-11 and 1-1 in conference action.
Quick Hits (Game One)
- NC State started fast in the first game of the doubleheader, as the first four batters in the Wolfpack lineup recorded a hit.
- Tyler Ross led off with an infield single, stole second base and scored on a single up the middle by Molly Hutchison to plate the game's first run.
- Meredith Burroughs followed with a double down the left field line to move Hutchison over to third base.
- Maggie Hawkins joined the hit parade with an RBI single to right field, scoring Hutchison to push the NC State lead to 2-0.
- Virginia Tech ended the Wolfpack's shutout bid in the top of the seventh on a solo home run to center field by Olivia Lattin.
