No. 31 Women's Tennis Splits Weekend Matches

NC State defeated Long Beach State Friday, fell to No. 17 Pepperdine Saturday afternoon
MALIBU, Calif. - The No. 31 women's tennis team split a pair of nonconference matchups on the west coast over the weekend. The team downed Long Beach State 4-2 Friday afternoon before falling 7-0 to No. 17 Pepperdine on Saturday.

The team faced its toughest competition of the season in No. 17 Pepperdine in the latter half of the weekend schedule. The Pack was unable to capture a win against the Waves stacked roster. No. 61 Martina Frantova fell 6-2, 6-2 to No. 2 Luisa Stefani at the No. 1 singles. Stefani remains undefeated in her first season at Pepperdine. Amanda Rebol and Claudia Wiktorin entered their toughest doubles matchup of the season against No. 12 Christine Maddox and Matea Cutura, falling 6-1 to the highly ranked duo.
The Wolfpack resumes conference play when it hosts Virginia Saturday, March 19 at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.
