Men’s Swimming And Diving Secures Second-Straight ACC Championship Title

GREENSBORO, N.C.- The No. 7 NC State men's swimming and diving team secured its second-straight ACC Championship title Saturday evening at the ACC Championships inside Greensboro Aquatic Center, marking the program's 26th victory in NC State history.
This marks the first time in 31 years that the program has earned back-to-back titles, as the Wolfpack came out victorious in 1984 and '85 under Don Easterling.
Through four days of competition, the Wolfpack earned 1,402 points as a team to finish 334.5 points ahead of runner-up Louisville. Additionally, the squad collected 11 gold medals, landed on the podium 24 times, tabbed 19 records and had 11 student-athletes earn All-ACC honors for their efforts.

Wolfpack Relays
The 400 freestyle relay of Simonas Bilis, Ryan Held, Joe Bonk and Soren Dahl coasted its way to a first-place finish with an ACC meet record of 2:48.52. The win marked the fourth-straight time in program history that NC State has won the event title.
Bilis's leadoff split of 41.76 stands as a personal best and second-fastest time in program history.
Freestyle
Anton Ipsen captured his second-straight distance freestyle sweep at the ACC Championships, as he won the 1,650 free with an NCAA 'A' standard time of 14:44.96 after winning the 500 free earlier this week. Adam Linker earned the runner-up spot on the podium as he stopped the clock at 14:51.47.
NC State earned its second podium sweep of the week in the 100 free, as Held, Bilis and Dahl claimed the top three spots of the event standings. Held won his second title of the week as he posted a school, conference and ACC meet time of 41.69. Bilis placed second with a mark of 42.16 while Dahl placed third after stopping the clock at 42.85.
Backstroke
Hennessey Stuart and Justin Ress rounded out the podium of the 200 backstroke, as Stuart tabbed a time of 1:39.58 to place second while Ress stopped the clock at 1:40.57 to place third and tab the No. 3 time in program history. Both performances stand as career-best times.
Breaststroke
Patrik Schwarzenbach was the top finisher for the Pack in the 200 breaststroke, as he finished eighth in the overall standings with a time of 1:56.72. In the prelims, he set the school record in the event as he posted a mark of 1:56.45.
Additionally, Derek Hren posted a time of 1:57.56 in the B final to notch the No. 3 time in program history.
Butterfly
Christian McCurdy earned the second 200 butterfly championship title of his career, as he tabbed a school, conference, ACC meet and pool record time of 1:41.42. His outing also stands as an NCAA 'A' cut.
