
NC State Collects Three Gold Medals On Second Day Of ACC Championships

NC State won its third-straight title in the 200 freestyle relay

GREENSBORO, N.C.- The NC State men's swimming and diving team continued its medal winning streak Thursday evening, as it tabbed three more first-place finishes at the ACC Championships inside Greensboro Aquatic Center.Â
Of the four events contested, the team landed on the podium five times, breaking two records on the day. The Wolfpack has earned a total of five medals through two days of competition.Â
Heading into the second half of the meet, NC State sits in first place with 491 points while Virginia Tech sits in second with 487 points while Louisville rounds out the top three with 383.

Wolfpack Relays
The 200 freestyle relay team of Ryan Held, Simonas Bilis, Joe Bonk and Andreas Schiellerup posted a time of 1:15.65 to capture the program's third-straight win in the event. The mark was just shy of a school, conference and ACC meet record, and stands as the top time in the country.
Freestyle
Sophomore Anton Ipsen secured his second-straight conference title in the 500 free, as he posted a time of 4:14.53. That mark was just off of his school record.
Additionally Adam Linker finished fourth in the overall standings with a time of 4:18.20, as his performance stands as the second-fastest time in program history.Â
All six of NC State's 50 free competitors advanced to the finals session of the event. Held clinched the title with an ACC meet record time of 18.92, as that mark stands as the second-fastest time in program history. Bilis took the runner-up spot just .02 seconds behind his teammate, as both podium finishers bested the ACC meet record.Â
Schiellerup rounded out the top three performers for the Pack as he finished fourth with a time of 19.52.Â
Individual Medley
Soren Dahl earned the runner-up spot in the 200 individual medley, posting a school record time of 1:42.50. Justin Ress and Hennessey Stuart also earned valuable points for the Pack, as Ress touched the wall at 1:44.52 to finish fifth and Stuart stopped the clock at 1:44.99 to finish eighth.
Ress's prelim time of 1:43.73 stands as the No. 3 time in the record book, while Stuart's prelim time of 1:44.42 marks the fourth-fastest time in NC State history.Â

The Wolfpack men will continue competition at the ACC Championships through Saturday. Friday's prelims will begin at 10 a.m., while finals are set for a 6 p.m. start.
