Both performances Wednesday stand as top times in the nation
GREENSBORO, N.C.- For the third-straight year the NC State men's swimming and diving swept the first day at the ACC Championships, earning gold medals in the 200 medley and 800 freestyle relays Wednesday evening inside Greensboro Aquatic Center.
The team broke a total of four records both events, as well as tabbed the top time in the country in both events.Â
After the first day of competition NC State racked up 128 points, which puts the Wolfpack in a tie for fifth with Louisville among the team standings. Including men's diving points from last week, Virginia Tech leads the field with 169, while UNC-Chapel Hill (149), Virginia (146) and Georgia Tech (131) round out the top four.Â

Holloway's Statement
"Today was a strong start for us. I'm proud of our guys for coming out ready to compete. There was a lot of energy on the deck and a lot of excitement in the pool tonight. Hats off to the 200 medley relay for breaking our school record, so we feel good about where that group is.Â
"Ryan Held anchored at 18.16 [in the 200 medley relay] and then stepped up and lead off the 800 freestyle relay, which was an incredible race with Louisville. We were right off of our school record in that race but faster than we were here last year. I think a lot of schools showed today that they're ready to race, so there will be a lot of great competition this weekend.

In the 800 freestyle relay, the squad of Held, Bilis, Justin Ress and Soren Dahl posted an ACC meet record time of 6:12.76 to edge out Louisville and complete the team's day one sweep at the conference championship. The performance stands as the fastest time in the country.
