Alexa Phillips Tabs Rookie Of The Week Honor

BALTIMORE- After strong contributions to the program's win at Iowa State with No. 14 Nebraska and Wisconsin-La Crosse, freshman Alexa Phillips was named EAGL Rookie of the Week, as announced by the league office Tuesday morning.

This marks the first mention of her career and the team's third-straight conference weekly honor of the season.

Phillips, an Athens, Ga., native, earned a score of 9.825 on vault to tie for second place, and matched that mark on floor to post a career best on the event and tie for ninth in the final standings.

In its quad meet, NC State tabbed a season-high team total of 195.450 to edge out the 14th-ranked Huskers, who notched a 195.350. Iowa State finished third with a mark of 194.900 and UW-La Crosse finished with a 192.900.

As a team, the Wolfpack posted season-best scores on floor and bars with marks of 49.225 and 49.075, in respective order, and its second-highest score in 2016 on vault with a 48.925.

The Pack will return to action Feb. 26 when it faces EAGL opponents Towson and George Washington along with William and Mary. The meet is set for a 7 p.m. start inside Towson's SECU Arena.Â
