Wolfpack Throwers Win Events at Holiday Open

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Two throwers from the NC State track and field team picked up event victories at Christopher Newport's Holiday Open.
Joshua Davis and Lauren Evans both posted event wins in the weight throw on Sunday.
Davis, a returning All-American, started the season with an impressive throw of 67'8.00" to win the event by more than seven feet. His mark is currently ranked second in the nation and just 1.50" from the nation's top mark.
On the women's side, Lauren Evans picked up a solid win in the weight throw with a personal best of 60'1.00". The mark is currently ranked 17th in the nation and moves from 10th to fifth in the NC State program records.
Sharmani Hall earned a personal best of 51'1.00" and finished third overall in the event.
In the women's shot put, Evans took second with a throw of 43'4.50". On her debut, Hannah Stokes took eighth place in the event with a mark of 39'3.00". Hall finished 12th in the event with a throw of 36'10.50".

NC State will take a break for the holidays and return to the action Friday, Jan. 13th at the Carolina Cup.
