Wolfpack Wins Fifth Straight in Rout of McNeese State

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State men's basketball team pulled away early and never trailed in an 89-57 win over McNeese State on Thursday night inside PNC Arena. The Wolfpack has won five straight and improves to 8-0 at home.
NC State improves to 10-2 overall, which marks the fastest the team has reached 10 wins in school history in a single season.
Dennis Smith, Jr. led the team in a complete effort with 23 points while shooting 9-for-12 from the floor and adding six assists, four rebounds, three steals and two blocks in 20 minutes of action. Maverick Rowan added 15 points and four rebounds, while Torin Dorn added 11 points and Terry Henderson scored 10.
The Pack dominated in the paint with a 55-27 rebounding advantage and posted a 32-14 advantage in second chance points.
NC State jumped out to an early lead, as BeeJay Anya went inside for the first points of the game. Seconds later, Smith forced a steal and added a reverse dunk to go up 4-0 less than a minute into the contest.
The Pack went on an 11-2 run to extend its lead to 15 points with 12:32 remaining in the first half. NC State continued to push the tempo and entered halftime with a 49-28 lead. Smith led the team with 16 points, three rebounds, three assists and two blocks in the first half.
After missing its first field goal of the second half, the Pack made nine-straight field goals during a 24-13 run. The Pack limited the Cowboys no field goals for over three minutes during the run to lead by as many as 38 during the first 10 minutes of the half.
NC State closed out the game, as 14 players earned playing time and 12 players scored. Chris Corchiani, Jr. scored the final four points of the game, including a last-second shot to conclude the game at 89-57.
