CARY, N.C. - The NC State men's and women's cross country teams dominated the competition at the Three Stripe Invite on Saturday morning. All eight runners finished among the top 10 of competition, many finding significant time drops from earlier this season.
Men's Race:
Two true freshmen led the way for the Wolfpack in the men's 5,000m race. Joe Bistritz and Tim Bason finished fourth and fifth overall in 15:05.98 and 15:08.05, respectively. Both runners competed as unattached athletes. Kyle Christ ran in uniform for NC State, finishing eighth in 15:26.63. All three men saw significant time drops from the early-season adidas Challenge meet in September.
Women's Race:
Unattached true freshman Anna Vess led a commanding race, finishing first in the 5,000m race well ahead of the competition. Vess broke the 18-minute barrier, crossing the line in 17:57.49, nearly 40 seconds faster than her season opening race at the adidas Challenge where she completed the 5K course in 18:35.1. Rebekah Greengrass (18:15.53), Lauren Velasco (18:25.36) and Theresa Enright (18:26.75) finished close behind in third, fourth and fifth place, respectively.
