Wolfpack Welcomes St. Francis College to PNC Arena on Sunday

NC State set for first-ever meeting against the Terriers
The NC State men's basketball team returns to action Sunday at 2 p.m. when it hosts the St. Francis Terriers. The game will be shown on ACC Network Extra.Â
Noting the Pack:
- The Wolfpack opened the season Friday night by defeating Georgia Southern, 81-79.
- Senior guard Terry Henderson led NC State with 23 points. The Raleigh native started last season's opener, but was lost for the season six minutes into the game with an injury. Henderson played 35 minutes on Friday night which was his first full game since March 18, 2014.
- The ACC's top-returnee in double-doubles from a year ago with 14, opened the 2016-17 season by notching another as Abdul-Malik Abu scored 15 and grabbed 11 rebounds. It was his 17th career double-double. Abu also blocked a career-high six shots in the win for the Wolfpack.
- Sophomore guard Torin Dorn recorded his second career double-double in his NC State debut as the Charlotte native scored 12 points and pulled down 11 rebounds. The 11 rebounds were a career-high.
- Sophomore Maverick Rowan was the second-leading scorer for the Pack on Friday night with 17 points. Rowan was also active on the glass as he set a career-high with nine rebounds. Rowan's four offensive rebounds were also a career-high.
- Trailing 66-60 on Friday night, the Pack held Georgia Southern without a field goal for almost four minutes as NC State went on a 10-1 run to take a lead it would never give up.
- The Pack also made its free throws when it counted, trailing 66-60 with 6:26 to play, NC State hit 15 of its final 16 free throw attempts to take the lead and seal the win. NC State finished the game 23-of-33 (69.7%) from the free throw line.
- NC State was picked to finish sixth in the preseason ACC poll that was announced on October 26.
Noting St. Francis College Terriers:
- The Terriers tied for second in the Northeast Conference last season, but lost seven letterwinners from last year's team.
- St. Francis College's top returnee is senior guard Yunus Hopkinson. Hopkinson was a third-team All-NEC selection last season after averaging 12.2 points per game and connecting on 75 three-pointers.
- The Terriers were picked to finish seventh out of 10 schools in the NEC this season.
- St. Francis will be one of the youngest teams in the country this season. Seven of the 11 players that will suit up on Sunday are freshmen or sophomores.
The Series:
- This will be the first meeting all-time between NC State and St. Francis College. The Wolfpack is 8-1 all-time against opponents from the Northeast Conference.
