
Women's Tennis Concludes Play at Riviera/ITA AA Championships

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - After four days of competition, the NC State women's tennis team has concluded competition at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships. The Wolfpack will return to Raleigh with four wins.
Friday stared only singles competition from senior Martina Frantova, No. 29. After losing in the main draw on Thursday, Frantova dropped to the consolation draw, but bounced back to win her first set against No. 43 Anna Danilina of Florida, 6-3. Danilina came back to win the second match, 6-3, but Frantova closed strongly, ending the match with a 6-4 win in the third set.
In the next match-up, Frantova took on No. 2 Luisa Stefani from Pepperdine. Stefani took control of the first set, winning 6-1. In the second set, Frantova jumped to an early 4-1 lead, but struggled to close, eventually falling, 5-7.

Niehaus/De Santis (Ohio St.) def. No. 24 Frantova/Stenta, 8-3.
No. 28 Zhang/Hodge (Rice) def. No. 50 Wiktorin/Moldovan, 8-2.

No. 50 Wiktorin/Moldovan def.No.49 Hudson/Oparenvoic (Arkansas), 8-6.

No. 29 Frantova def. No. 43 Anna Danilina (Florida), 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.
No. 2 Luisa Stefani (Pepperdine) def. No. 29 Frantova, 1-6, 5-7.
