Wolfpack Volleyball Faces Virginia Tech in Road Contest Sunday Afternoon

RALEIGH, N.C. – Following a tough loss Friday night at Pitt, the NC State volleyball team will have a chance to rebound Sunday afternoon as the squad takes on the Virginia Tech Hokies. First serve is slated for 1 p.m. inside Cassell Coliseum and the match will be broadcast live on the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Network Extra.

The Wolfpack owns a 13-10 overall record and a 6-5 mark in ACC play, while the Hokies are 8-14 and 3-8 in conference action.

Last Time Out
In its last outing, NC State battled and battled, but dropped a 3-2 decision in Pittsburgh. The Wolfpack had a couple match point opportunities in the fourth set, but the Panthers fought them off and went on to win the match in the fifth set.

NC State and Virginia Tech have met 32 times in the history of the programs with the Hokies owning a 21-11 advantage in the all-time series. The Wolfpack swept VT in the last meeting between the teams held in Raleigh on Nov. 13, 2015, 3-0.

Tech won the last matchup on its home court, 3-1, held Sept. 27, 2015. NC State is in search of its first win inside Cassell Coliseum since 2012.

The Virginia Tech Hokies have struggled to find their footing this season, as the squad has just an 8-14 overall mark and 3-8 clip in ACC play. The Hokies were defeated at home by UNC-Chapel Hill in their last outing on Friday, 3-1.

Senior Lindsey Owens leads a strong offensive attack with 3.35 kills per set, while Amanda McKinzie is second on the Hokies with 2.68. At the setter position, Mandy Powers has dished 8.19 assists per set. Defensively, Carol Raffety paces the team with 4.29 digs per set.
As a team, Virginia Tech has a team attacking percentage of .194 and opponents have been held to a .212 clip.
