@PackWrestle Announces 2016-17 Team Captains

RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State head coach Pat Popolizio has announced the Wolfpack's team captains for the upcoming season: senior Pete Renda, redshirt junior Michael Macchiavello and junior Kevin Jack. In addition, Popolizio announced sophomore (Sean Fausz) and freshmen (Hayden Hidlay) captains as well.
"All these guys are a great example of what leadership is about," said head coach Pat Popolizio. "Not only do they have a winning mentality, but they hold themselves to a high standard on the mat and in the classroom."
• Pete Renda - A 2016 All-American at 184 pounds after placing third at the NCAA Championships. Named to the 2016 ACC All-Academic Team, for the third straight year and to the 2015-16 ACC Academic Honor Roll. Will redshirt the 2016-17 season, read his Personal #STATEment
• Michael Macchiavello - Redshirted the 2015-16 season. Named to 2015-16 ACC Academic Honor Roll. Ranked No. 15 at 184 pounds in FloWrestling's preseason rankings.
• Kevin Jack - 2016 ACC Champion at 141 pounds. Was a 2015 All-American as a true freshman after going from unseeded to a fifth place finish at the NCAA Championships. Ranked No. 4 at 141 pounds in FloWrestling's preseason rankings.
• Sean Fausz - 2016 automatic NCAA qualifier at 125 pounds as a redshirt freshman, also earned All-ACC honors with a second place finish. Named to 2015-16 ACC Academic Honor Roll. Ranked No. 16 at 125 pounds in FloWrestling's preseason rankings.
• Hayden Hidlay - A 2015-16 ASICS All-America second-team selection at 152 pounds as a senior in high school. Ranked No. 2 recruit at 152 pounds and No. 6 nationally by FloWrestling after a career record of 149-15 in high school.
NC State's season kicks off Nov. 5, when Max Rohskopf competes in the NWCA All-Star Classic in Cleveland. The entire Wolfpack squad will in action for the first time on Nov. 13, traveling to Troy, N.Y., for the Journeymen Classic.
