RALEIGH – A pair of incoming NC State men's golfers are already making #STATEments before arriving on campus, as Benjamin Shipp and Christian Salzer have achieved significant accomplishments in recent weeks.
Â
Shipp, who was ranked No. 7 in the class of 2016 by Golfweek at the time of his signing, recently finished the 2015 calendar year as the No. 2 golfer in the country among his age group. The Duluth, Ga., native competed in nine events and posted an impressive individual win-loss-tie record of 526-107-23 throughout the year.

Â
In mid-December, Salzer was named the Richard S. Tuft's Carolina Junior Boys Player of the Year by the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA). Among his many highlights from the 2015 calendar year, Salzer won the CGA Jimmy Anderson, SCGA Junior, placed first at Big I Sectional Qualifying, and represented the United States at the 2015 Can – Am Championship.
Â
The NC State men's golf team recently finished a very strong fall season which included a competitive record of 60-10-1 and 11 individual top-20 finishes. As a team, the Wolfpack never finished higher than fifth place and ended the fall with the following four results: 2nd of 15, 2nd of 16, 3rd of 15, and 3rd of 19.
