RALEIGH – The NC State women's soccer team picked up its third straight shutout win on Friday evening, defeating the visiting Oregon Ducks by a final score of 2-0. Alexa Allen scored her second and third goals of the season on either side of halftime and freshman goalkeeper Sydney Wootten made five stops to preserve the win.
Friday's third straight shutout victory for NC State marked the first time the Wolfpack has achieved such a feat since September 12-23 of the 2010 season, when NC State picked up three straight 1-0 victories over Florida International, Old Dominion, and Clemson.
Allen scored the first of her two goals in the 31st minute when she received a pass from teammate Taylor Porter and fired a rocket over the goalkeeper from more than 25 yards away. Her second came in the final minute of the match when Caroline Gentry played her a through ball and she beat the goalkeeper to the far post.
NC State will next be in action at home on Sunday, Sept. 6 against (rv) William & Mary. Kickoff between the Wolfpack and Tribe is set for 2 p.m. from Dail Soccer Field.
