Play Suspended in First Round of Main Draw at ITF Charleston 10K

Martina Frantova of the women's tennis team will resume play in the first round of the main draw at the ITF Charleston 10K on Thursday

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Play was suspended due to lightning at the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Charleston 10K on Wednesday. Martina Frantova of the NC State women's tennis team was serving at 40-0 with the set score at 4-4 at the time of delay.

The first round match-up between Frantova and Madeleine Kobelt (USA) was postponed in the third set due to lightning and will resume play on Thursday morning. Frantova conquered 6-3 in the first set and Kobelt 3-6 in the second.

Kobelt is listed at No. 1025 among ITF rankings.

Frantova opened tournament play on Sunday in singles qualifying draws. She advanced to the first round of the main draw on Tuesday following a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Ana Roman Dominguez (ESP) in the final round of singles qualifiers.

Frantova will continue play at the ITF Charleston 10K on Thursday with the continuation of Wednesday's postponed match. Second round competition is included on Thursday's schedule following the conclusion of postponed matches.
