Volleyball Cruises Past Hampton In Straight Sets, 3-0

Wolfpack records .397 attacking percentage in the contest
RALEIGH, N.C. - Led by freshman Teni Sopitan with a .778 hitting percentage in her collegiate debut for NC State, the Wolfpack volleyball team cruised past Hampton in straight sets, 3-0 (25-14, 25-10, 25-13), Saturday in its second match of the Double Tree Cary Classic.

The Wolfpack improves to 10-1, while the Pirates fall to 0-12 on the season.Â

Match Notes
- Sopitan made her debut for the Wolfpack in the second set of the match, recording seven kills on nine attempts to lead the team with a .778 attacking percentage.Â
-As a team, the Pack recorded five service aces as Blayke Hranicka and Tanna Aljoe notched two apiece.Â
-The Wolfpack earned its sixth sweep of the season against the Pirates.

Match Rewind
-The start of set one was a back-and-forth battle, but a kill by Wolfpack sophomore Julia Brown ignited an 11-1 run as the Pack took a 14-8 lead. Thanks to some strong serving from Aljoe, NC State scored six unanswered points to take a 22-13 lead and went on to win the frame, 25-14.
- In the second set, NC State raced out to an 11-4 lead following a 7-1 run. After a Hampton timeout, the Wolfpack put together and 11-3 run to gain control of the set and won it, 25-10.
- With the score tied at eight in the third frame, NC State scored six consecutive points to grab a 14-9 advantage. Following a service error, the Pack went on a 5-0 run to extend the lead to 19-9 and claimed the set, 25-13, to win the match, 3-0.

- Perry recorded a match-high 12 kills to go along with a .611 attacking percentage. Freshman Blayke Hranicka put down six kills and senior Morgan Cormier had five.
- Junior Maggie Speaks posted a match-high 29 assists and had four kills on seven swings.Â
- Defensively, junior Rachel Eppley boasted a match-high 12 digs, while Emily Harris posted nine. Hranicka tallied five blocks to pace the Pack in that category.
