Overbey Leads Wolfpack In Second Round Of Cougar Classic

HANRAHAN, S.C. - Cecily Overbey shot a 1-under 71 to lead the NC State women's golf team Monday during the second round of the Cougar Classic at Yeaman's Hall Club. The Wolfpack is 10th in the 20-team event heading into Tuesday's final round.
Leonie Bettel (+3) leads the team after 36 holes, followed by Overbey (+4), India Clyburn (+5) and Naomi Ko (+6). Sarah Bae (+7) rounded out the Pack lineup. Bae is among the tournament leaders on par-5 holes, averaging 4.50 on those holes.
Taylor Tomlinson (Florida) and Alice Hewson (Clemson) are both 8-under after two rounds and tied for the individual lead. Arkansas owns a 10-shot lead over Virginia at the top of the team standings. The Pack is just four shots behind Clemson for fifth place.
NC State is four shots better than Michigan and five better than UNC-Chapel Hill and Indiana, who are tied for 12th.
The third and final round of the Cougar Classic begins Tuesday morning with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
