Wolfpack to play eight fall exhibitions, six home contests
RALEIGH, N.C. – Coming off the program's first-ever trip to the NCAA Super Regionals, NC State softball head coach Shawn Rychcik announced the Wolfpack's fall schedule on Thursday. The Pack will play eight games this fall, hosting six of those contests at Dail Stadium.
Â
NC State will kick off its fall season on Oct. 11 when it travels to nearby Campbell for a doubleheader slated at Amanda Littlejohn Stadium in Buies Creek, N.C. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m. with the second game to follow.
Â
The remaining six games will be held at the Wolfpack's home facility, Dail Stadium. Pitt Community College will be the first team to visit this fall, as they will head to Raleigh on Oct. 15 for a twin bill scheduled for 5 p.m.
Â
NC State will face Longwood, who advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2015, on Saturday, Oct. 17. That contest will also be a doubleheader set to begin at 11 a.m.
Â
The Wolfpack will conclude its fall slate versus Elon on Friday, Oct. 23. First pitch of the twin bill is slated for 5 p.m.
Â
All fall games are exhibitions and will not count towards NC State's record during its competition season, which is in the spring.
Â
Last season, NC State advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals for the first time in program history after winning the NCAA Harrisonburg (Va.) Regional with a perfect 3-0 record. The Pack earned its best finish in school history in the process, as it was listed at No. 19 in both of the final top-25 polls.
Â
The squad welcomes four freshmen as well as a transfer to the team for 2016, while four seniors departed due to graduation or exhausted eligibility.
