Fans to get first look at the 2015 squad
RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State women's volleyball team will host its annual Wolfpack Challenge intrasquad scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 22 at 7:30 p.m. in Holliday Gym at Broughton High School.
Â
Earlier in the day, the Wolfpack will be signing autographs from 2 - 2:30 p.m. at Packapalooza held on Hillsborough Street. The team will be at the Wolfpack Zone located near the NC State Belltower.
Â
With Reynolds Coliseum undergoing a major renovation, the Wolfpack's usual home will be unavailable for the 2015 season.
Â
Saturday's red and white scrimmage will give fans a preview of the 2015 squad, as the team will play four sets with players on each team varying by set.
Â
Now in his sixth season, head coach Bryan Bunn has led the Pack to four consecutive winning seasons for the first time in more than 30 years (1981-84). He owns 92 wins at NC State and would become just the fourth coach in program history to reach the century mark.
Â
Last season, the Wolfpack finished the month of September with a perfect 10-0 mark to achieve the first perfect month in the history of the program.
Â
This year's squad will be much younger, with only four upperclassmen on the entire roster. In fact, the Wolfpack is tied for the second youngest team in the conference based on the number of upperclassmen on the roster.
Â
Kaitlyn Kearney, NC State's leader in kills, blocks and points scored, returns for her sophomore campaign after being named to the ACC All-Freshman team in 2014. Seniors Morgan Cormier and Tanna Aljoe also return, along with juniors Rachel Eppley and Maggie Speaks.
Â
Admission for the event is free with gates set to open for fans one hour prior to the match at 6:30 p.m.
