Wolfpack Opens Competition at Duke Twilight

DURHAM, N.C. - NC State had a successful first day of the Duke Twilight, taking home five first-place finishes and two conference championship qualifying marks in the final meet before the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Championships.  
Throws:
The Wolfpack throwers opened the meet for the Pack. Joshua Davis and David Rocker recorded personal bests in the men's hammer throw. Davis inched closer to the 200' mark, finishing second with a throw of 198'3.00".  He moves up to ninth place in the ACC. Rocker's mark of 170'5.00" was good for fifth place.
On the women's side, Alyssa Dunn also earned a new personal best in the hammer. Dunn finished in fifth with a throw of 169'3.00". Dunn's mark is an 11' improvement from her previous personal best.
In the discus, Jule Rich took first with a throw of 170'0.00". He has now finished in the top three in four of his last five events. In the women's discus, Tremanisha Taylor took second and SeQuoia Watkins finished third.
Jumps:
The Wolfpack swept the top spot in both the men and women's long jump as Jonathan Addison and Alexis Perry both jumped to new season-high marks. Perry finished with a mark of 20'10.50, and moved from fifth to second in the conference standings. Addison recorded a mark of 24'11.00", which moves him up to 13th in the East region.
Sprints:
Two more Wolfpack athletes booked their spots at the ACC Championships in the men's 400m dash. Both Abdur Rahmaan Kelly and Shannon Patterson crossed the finish line in time to earn the automatic qualifying mark. Kelly took second in his heat with a mark of 48.39, and Patterson finished third in the heat with a time of 48:46.
Hurdles:
Perry continued her night with two more first-place finishes. The Durham, N.C., native dominated the field of hurdlers, winning both the preliminaries and the finals of the 100m hurdles. Perry opened with a mark of 13.47, and shaved 0.24 off her time in the finals to finish with a mark of 13.28. She crossed the finish line 0.35 ahead of her closest competitor in the finals. The time is tied for her second-best all season as she has hit the same mark two meets in a row.
Mid-Distance:
Lizzy Kroeger and Rachel Koon took first and second in their heat, respectively as both competed unattached in the 1,500m. Kroeger finished with a mark of 4:33.53, while Koon was right behind, crossing the finish line in 4:33.97.
On the men's side, Sebastian Hanson led the team, coming in 12th with a time of 3:49.59. Wyatt Maxey led a host of NC State freshmen, who were competing unattached. Maxey finished third in his heat and 15th overall with a time of 3:51.64. John Hagood was right behind, with a mark of 3:52.16.
