NC State baseball fell one win shy of claiming the 2015 ACC Championship, dropping a 6-2 decision to No. 14 Florida State on Sunday at the DBAP, in front of a championship game record 9,759 fans.

The Wolfpack (34-21) battled through two scoreless before a three-run shot in the bottom third put the Seminoles (41-19) ahead 3-0. NC State rallied with two in the fourth to close the gap, before two more Florida State runs crossed in the fourth to make it 5-2. The Noles scored one for insurance in the seventh to set the final margin at 6-2.

Chance Shepard led the offense with the Pack's only multi-hit outing, a 2-for-3 performance with a walk. Jake Fincher contributed State's only RBI. Joe Dunand singled to extend his team-leading hitting streak to seven games and scored once. Bubby Riley scored from third on a wild pitch in the fourth. Logan Ratledge and Andrew Knizner supplied one hit each on the afternoon.

Wolfpack starter Johnny Piedmonte (1-1) ended up with the loss on 3 1/3 innings, allowing four earned on three hits and a walk with four punchouts. Curt Britt worked the next 2 2/3, limiting the Seminoles to one earned on four hits and two walks with a strikeout. Jon Olczak pitched the seventh, surrendering one earned on a hit and a walk. Joe O'Donnell struck out the side in the ninth.
