NC State baseball enjoyed a combined shutout from Curt Britt and Will Gilbert to cruise 3-0 over Stony Brook, and into the winners' bracket at TCU's Lupton Stadium in the Fort Worth Regional on Friday.

Britt (3-0) drew the game one start and captured a win on 5 1/3 innings of work, scattering four hits and two walks, shutting out the Seawolves (34-15-1) with two punchouts. Gilbert relieved him and took it the rest of the way for his third save of the season, holding Stony Brook to two hits and two walks with two strikeouts in 3 2/3.

Logan Ratledge provided the scoring punch, sending a two-run shot over the left field wall in the bottom fifth to push the Wolfpack (35-21) ahead 2-0, his ninth bomb of the year. Ratledge finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run. Jake Fincher scored on the play in a 1-for-2 day. Fincher took three trips on the basepaths by getting hit by pitch twice in the afternoon. Pack hitters were plunked five times over the course of the game.

Josh McLain poked an RBI single through the right side in the eighth to grant the Pack a 3-0 lead, his lone hit after starting in left. Bubby Riley scored on the play in a 2-for-4 outing. Preston Palmeiro went 2-for-3 with a double. Chance Shepard contributed a 1-for-4 effort with a double pasted down the left field line.

NC State improves to 11-5 over its last three trips to the NCAA Tournament, and 14-3 over its last 17 games in 2015. State climbs to 8-6 in NCAA Tournament openers under Elliott Avent. The shutout victory represents NC State's first in the NCAA Tournament since a 1-0 win over William & Mary in the 2013 Raleigh Regional, but only the second in Wolfpack postseason history.
