LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Seniors Renada Davis and Emily Weiman of the NC State softball team have been named to the 2015 All-Southeast Region Team, according to an announcement by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) on Thursday.
Davis was named to the second team, while Weiman collected third team honors. The selection to the all-region team marks the second in Weiman's career, as she was named to the second team in 2013, and the first for Davis.
The duo has teamed up to lead NC State in nearly every offensive and pitching category the past four seasons.
Davis leads the Wolfpack at the plate this season with a batting average of .382 and a team-leading 66 hits. She has also scored 47 runs and collected 39 runs batted in (RBI). Earlier this season, she became the ACC's all-time home run leader with her 62nd home run at Virginia Tech.
The Tomball, Texas, native also had a program-best 32-game reached base safely streak from Feb. 20 to April 17, 2015. Since having the streak snapped, Davis has had a hit in every game to compile a 12-game hitting streak heading into the NCAA Regional this weekend.
She has reached base in 44 of the last 45 games.
In the pitcher's circle, Weiman has been dominant, recording a 28-15 overall record with a 2.41 earned run average (ERA). She leads the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and ranks 10th in the NCAA with 294 strikeouts this season, putting her over the 1,000 strikeout mark for her career.
The Pasadena, Md., native broke the NC State record for career wins with her 91st victory and became the program's first 100-game winner just a few weeks later. She has 10 complete game shutouts this season, which is just two shy of the Wolfpack record.
Weiman now has 105 career wins to her credit, which is the second most among active Division I pitchers and the fifth most in ACC history.
NC State opens play in the Harrisonburg (Va.) Regional at 2 p.m. on Friday against Fordham.
