Swimming and Diving Places 14 on All-ACC Academic Team

GREENSBORO, N.C.- 14 members of the NC State swimming and diving team have been named to the 2015 All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Academic Team, as announced by the league office Tuesday.
Soren Dahl, Ryan Held, Derek Hren, Anton Ipsen, Adam Linker, Christian McCurdy, Hennessey Stuart and Ryan Wilkinson represented the men's side, which marked the highest number from any program in the conference.
Kristin Connors, Krista Duffield, Lotta Nevalainen, Natalie Labonge, Katelyn Linker and Alexia Zevnik tabbed the honor on the women's side, which tied with Pittsburgh for the second-highest number of student-athletes in the conference to earn the honor.
Combined, NC State's 14 student-athletes marks the highest in program history as well as the most of any school in the ACC to be placed on the team this year.
Sophomores Hren and Linker led the men's side with earning their second honor in as many years. Linker was a qualifier for the 2015 NCAA Championships in the 500 and 1,650 freestyle, and holds top-10 times in program history in both events.
Hren earned All-America honors in the 200 and 400 medley relays at this year's national championship. He also holds the second-fastest time in program history in the 100 breaststroke with a mark of 53.10 after earning a silver medal in the event at the ACC Championships.
Dahl, Held, Ipsen, McCurdy, Stuart and Wilkinson each earned the first mention of their careers. Dahl, a sophomore, collected gold medals at the ACC Championships and All-America honors at the NCAA Championships as a member of the 200 medley, 400 and 800 freestyle relays.
In just their first season, Ipsen and Stuart earned two All-America honors a piece while Held tabbed four. Ipsen holds school records and ACC Championship titles in the 500 and 1,650 free, while Stuart owns a program record and conference championship title in the 200 back. Held tabbed conference titles as a leg of the 200, 400 and 800 freestyle relays, as well as in the 200 free.
McCurdy, a junior, holds school records in the 200 butterfly and the 400 individual medley, while he finished fourth in the 200 fly at NCAAs to mark his second-straight All-America honor in the event.
Wilkinson, also a junior in the water, holds the ninth-fastest time in the 200 backstroke and the 10th-fastest in the 200 individual medley among the men's program.
Sophomores Labonge, Nevalainen and Zevnik led the women's side with their second mention in as many years. All three swimmers tabbed a gold medal as members of the 400 freestyle relay at the ACC Championships, while Labonge and Zevnik earned first team All-America honors in the relay at this year's NCAA Championships.
Zevnik additionally grabbed All-America honors in the 200 medley relay.
In her first season with the Pack, Duffield tabbed All-America honors in the 200 and 400 freestyle relays at the NCAA Championships, and a conference title as a part of the 200 free relay at the ACC championships.
For Connors, a junior in the water, and Linker, a senior, this marked the first mention of their careers. Each swimmer holds three top-10 all-time marks among the women's program.
To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic Team, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during their academic career.
