RALEIGH -- The No. 36 NC State men's tennis team is headed to Fort Worth, Texas, for the first round of the NCAA Championship. The Wolfpack makes its fourth consecutive appearance in the tournament for the first time in program history and will face No. 28 Tulsa.
The match will be played either May 8th or 9th. The exact time and date is still TBD.
"We are going to get some good practices in and continue to do what we do. We have played good competition all year. We've trained all year to get ready for the postseason." -- Head Coach Jon Choboy
Tulsa holds a 17-12 record that includes an upset over then-ranked No. 1 USC. In its last time out, Tulsa fell in the American Athletic Conference tournament final to top-seeded South Florida.
NC State enters the tournament with a 17-11 overall record. The Pack closed out the regular season winning 7 of the last 9, including a four-match winning streak where it outscored its opponents 22-0.
The two teams shared no common opponents this season. Tulsa holds a 2-0 advantage in all-time series history.
Win a win against Tulsa, the Pack will face the winner of host TCU and Marist. TCU is the highest ranked team in the region, checking at No. 6. Marist earned an automatic qualifying bid after winning the MAAC Championship.
