Head women's golf coach Page Marsh calls this part of the year 'crunch time'. The Pack's season hits its peak in the coming weeks starting with the ACC Championship April 17-19 at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro. The Wolfpack, ranked 42nd nationally in the national GolfStat rankings, is the tourney's No. 8 seed.
The Pack finished third in the ACC tourney last season, then followed that with a third-place showing in the 2014 NCAA East Regional in Tallahassee. The squad then finished with a program record score of 280 on the final day of the NCAA Championship to tie for 10th.
Rachael Taylor, a junior and the Pack's No. 2 player, said that experience has helped them stay mentally prepared for the upcoming league tournament and postseason.
"Coach said this is crunch time," Taylor said. "We have exams and the end of the season and the championship season. I'm very calm and patient about it. I have a belief in what I can do and what the team can do. We're all excited to show what we've been working hard for."
Playing in her first ACC Championship, Cecily Overbey knows how hard the team has been working and thinks the Pack will have a strong showing.
"It's really exciting. It's what we've been working toward all year," Overbey said. "Everything is starting to come together and I'm excited to see how we do. I think we will do well."
