RALEIGH - The NC State men's golf team added another signee to its strong 2015 class, the program announced Thursday. Stephen Franken will be joining the Wolfpack for the upcoming 2015-16 season.
Ranked 57th in the country by the American Junior Golf Association, Franken was the 2014 Raleigh News & Observer Male Golfer of the Year, a 2014 Southern Junior Championship runner up, and a 2014 NCHSAA 4A State Championship runner up in addition to being a member of the 2013 and 2014 North Carolina All-State teams. A native of Raleigh, Franken will be graduating from Millbrook High School this spring.
"I've been watching Stephen Franken since he was a beginner, and I have never seen anybody work as hard as he has to get at this level," said head coach Richard Sykes. "He plays at a high level, is a good student, and is a very solid young man.
"He has a chance to be a really outstanding player because of how hard he works."
Franken will join Justin Hood, Nolan Mills Jr., and Davis Richards in NC State's 2015 class.
NC State will return to action in the 2015 spring season at the General Jim Hackler Championship (March 9-10) in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
