RALEIGH, N.C. -- The NC State softball team will conclude an 11-game road stretch on Wednesday when it travels to Conway, S.C., for a doubleheader against Coastal Carolina. First pitch of the twin bill is scheduled for 3 p.m. at CCU Softball Stadium.
The Wolfpack enters the midweek contest with a 19-13 record on the year, while the Chanticleers are 18-15 overall. The two teams have met 12 times in the history of the programs, with the Pack owning a 10-2 advantage in the all-time series.
State and Coastal last met in 2013, when the Wolfpack earned a 4-2 win in a neutral site contest held in Tampa, Fla., as part of the USF Tournament. The Pack is 2-2 in road trips to Coastal, having split a doubleheader in its last visit in 2006.
Last Time Out
In its last outing of the season, the Wolfpack earned a 10-0 run-rule victory at Georgia Tech to win the three-game series. The two teams split Saturday's twin bill, but NC State responded on Sunday with a win to clinch the series.
It was the first time the Pack has collected a shutout win against the Yellow Jackets in Atlanta and the first time that State has won the series at Georgia Tech.
Taking Over at the Top
Sunday's contest was a monumental one for senior pitcher Emily Weiman, as she became the program's career leader in wins by earning her 91st win in a complete game shutout effort. She surpassed Abbie Sims' previous mark of 90.
Weiman now has the second-most wins among active NCAA Division I pitchers. The Pasadena, Md., native also moved into sixth place for career victories by a pitcher in ACC history.
Davis On a Roll
Senior shortstop Renada Davis also made history in Sunday's win at Georgia Tech, as she reached base safely for the 22nd consecutive game to break her previous school record of 21 she set in 2013.
During the streak, she has a batting average of .406 with 28 hits, 18 runs scored, 13 walks, 12 runs batted in (RBI), 10 doubles and four home runs.
