RALEIGH, N.C. -The NC State track and field team wrapped up a successful Raleigh Relays with 13 new Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) qualifiers and multiple personal bests.
Two weeks into the outdoor season, the Wolfpack has 17 conference qualifying marks and several marks at the top of national standings.
Rollie's Recap:
On the meet:
"This is a great event for NC State University and the City of Raleigh. We got through Friday in the rain and cold. A number of the teams here are from Michigan and Ohio, so today felt like summer for them. We wanted to get ACC qualifying marks and place near what will normally get us to regionals. It is all preparation." -- Head Coach Rollie Geiger
On distance runners' season:
"Everything is very competitive these days. We had a good night on Friday, but it is really about what happens at the ACC championships in mid-May. We are running in Tallahassee, which is a challenge for distance runners. Regionals are in Jacksonville, so the conditions there will certainly not be the same conditions we had here Friday night. They have some challenges coming up."
100m Hurdles:
Alexis Perry had a strong performance once again as she took first in the finals of the 100m hurdles. Perry's mark of 13:17 ranks second in the country and second in school history. Perry's weekend included three first-place finishes and one second-place finish.
4x100:
NC State's 4x100 relay team finished first in its heat and second overall behind the efforts of J'den Williams, Tiana Patillo, Perry and Paisley Simmons. Simmons anchored the team as it pulled away to win its heat with a time of 46.75.
100m:
In the men's 100m finals, Jonathan Addison improved from his preliminary round to take third place. His time of 10.49 is good for an ACC qualifying mark and a new personal best. The mark ranks ninth in national standings.
4x400:
The men's 4x400 relay team wrapped up events on the track by registering a sixth-place finish in the first attempt of the year with a 3:14.97 mark.
