Gymnastics' Jarred, Watkins Crowned EAGL Champions on Floor

TOWSON, Md.- Senior Lane Jarred and junior Brittni Watkins were crowned conference champions on floor with four other gymnasts Sunday afternoon at the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Championship.
After each earning a 9.850 in the event, this marks the second conference floor title for each in their careers, and gives Watkins three individual event titles.
George Washington took the team title with a 195.850, followed by New Hampshire with a 195.700. NC State earned a total of 195.225 to round out the top three finishers in the team standings.
Michaela Woodford was named the squad's MVP after posting top-15 finishes in all four events and fifth in the all around competition.
Vault
As a team, the Pack earned a 49.850 on vault, with Chelsea Knight and Watkins leading the team with individual scores of 9.850. Both tied for fourth in the overall standings with George Washington's Elena Corcoran.
On the rotation, the team did not count anything less than a 9.750, as Mackenzie Itcush, Jarred and Woodford each notched a 9.750 to tie for 16th with New Hampshire's Marissa Toci.
Uneven Bars
Watkins posted a score of 9.800 to tie for fifth on bars with George Washington's Liz Pfeiler and New Hampshire's Jen King. Woodford finished in a five-way tie for 15th after charting a 9.750.
The Pack posted a team score of 48.600 in the event.
Balance Beam
Woodford earned a team-high score of 9.825 on beam to place sixth with four other gymnasts. Amanda Fillard followed in a five-way tie for 11th place after posting a career-high mark of 9.800.
NC State notched its third-highest score of the season with a total of 48.825.
Floor Exercise
Jarred and Watkins tied for first on floor with four other athletes, each posting a 9.850 to take the event title. Woodford earned the second-highest score on the team with a 9.750 to finish in a four-way tie for 15th.
The Pack charted a team score of 48.850 on the rotation.
All Around Competition
Watkins tied for third in the all around competition with a 39.200 to tie for third place with George Washington's Cami Drouin-Allaire. Woodford finished behind her teammate with a fifth-place finish after notching a 39.075.
Up Next
The team will await word on its fate for the regional championships. The announcement will be made Monday afternoon by the NCAA as to which teams will advance to the six regional sites.
