GREENSBORO, N.C.- Freshman Anton Ipsen has been named Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Male Swimmer of the Week while junior Rachel Mumma has been named ACC Female Diver of the Week, as announced by the conference Tuesday.
Their recognitions mark the second consecutive week that two athletes from the program have been chosen for the honor.
Ipsen, a Birkerod, Denmark native, swept the men’s distance freestyle events in NC State’s dual meet versus UNC-Chapel Hill on Jan. 31. He swam a time of 8:55.70 in the 1000 free to earn a Casey Aquatic Center and a school record. His time stands as the second-fastest time in the country, only .08 seconds off the fastest.
His performance in the 500 free with a time of 4:19.97 earned him his second pool record of the meet, as well as another school record.
Mumma, a Harrisburg, Pa. native, won the women’s one-meter dive event in the Pack’s dual meet on Jan. 31. Her score of 332.32 earned her a Casey Aquatic Center and school record.
Mumma also finished second in the women’s three-meter competition behind UNC-CH’s Kelly Corish with a score of 301.80.
The team will return to action when it heads to Atlanta, Ga., for the ACC Championships. The women’s championship will be held on Feb. 18-21, while the men’s competition will be held on Feb. 25-28.
