INDIANAPOLIS - Following an exciting week which included impressive victories over (rv) Miami and No. 10 Duke, the NC State women's basketball team (16-11, 7-7 ACC) has been named the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Team of the Week on Feb. 24.
Against Miami on Feb. 19, the Wolfpack battled back from a 42-24 halftime deficit to end the game on a 15-2 run over the final 4:36 to earn a 68-65 victory. The 18-point halftime deficit was the largest such deficit overcome since Dec. 16, 1992, when NC State rallied from a 40-22 halftime deficit to beat Florida State 75-67.
Just three days later, NC State earned an incredible 72-59 win over No. 10 Duke in the 10th annual Hoops 4 Hope game to start off ESPN's 2015 Play 4Kay Week. As a team, NC State shot an impressive 12-25 (.480) from beyond the arc and scored 28 points directly from 18 Duke turnovers.
These two wins earned NC State a vote in the Feb. 23 Associated Press top-25 poll.
NC State returns to action on Thursday, Feb. 26 at No. 9 Florida State. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live on ESPN3.
