RALEIGH, N.C.- The NC State women's tennis team split its doubleheader Sunday inside the J.W. Isenhour Center, falling to No. 37 LSU 7-0 but defeating UNC-Wilmington 6-1. The Wolfpack moves to 5-1 on the season.
Simon Says
"I think we were a little down after the LSU match because we were hoping to perform better than what the outcome was. We had several close sets but just didn't manage to make it happen. LSU is a strong team that is on the rise, and it was a great test for the team.
"In turn looking at the second match I think we played quite well in doubles. It was nice to see the hard work we have put into doubles play carry over into competition. We also had a great outing in singles, highlighted by a great shut out match by Elisha (Hande) and three more straight-set wins." Simon Earnshaw, head coach
Match One v. LSU (LSU 7, NCST 0)
Match Highlights:
NC State earned one match win in doubles play from court No. 3, as the duo of Elisha Hande and Joanna Nalborska defeated LSU's Skylar Holloway and Ella Taylor 6-2.
From the No. 5 spot, senior Sophie Nelson extended her match to three sets after rallying back in set two with a 6-1 win. Her opponent Ella Taylor managed to clinch the tie-breaker point though.
Match Two v. UNC-Wilmington (NCST 6, UNCW 1)

Hande earned the second point of the matchup as she shut out UNC-Wilmington's Christine Kharkevitch 6-0, 6-0. Nalborska quickly followed with a straight-set win over Annika Sillanpaa 6-2, 6-4.
