NC State (6-1) Defeats UAB 67-56 at Cancun Challenge

CANCUN, Mexico – The NC State women's basketball team (6-1) bounced back on its second day of the 2015 Cancun Challenge Friday afternoon, earning a wire-to-wire 67-56 win over UAB.
Led by a very impressive statistical evening from junior guard Miah Spencer (nine points, career-high 11 rebounds, five assists, four steals), 16 points from Dominique Wilson, and 11 points from Jennifer Mathurin, the Wolfpack cruised to its 31st non-league victory under third year head coach Wes Moore (31-10).

-Spencer accounted for all four of NC State's steals.

The Wolfpack played a very fundamentally sound first half, shooting 13-32 (.406) from the field, winning the rebound battle by eight, and generating a 2:1 assist to turnover ratio. Eleven Wolfpack players earned minutes in the first half, with the Pack being led by 11 points from Wilson and six rebounds from Spencer.
NC State recorded its largest lead of the game (20 points) on two occasions in the fourth quarter (56-36 with 8:34 to play and 58-38 with 7:23 remaining). The Blazers would shrink the gap to 10 points (66-56) in the final 42 seconds, but the Wolfpack's lead never dipped below double digits after the first quarter.
NC State returns to action on Thursday, December 3 at (RV/RV) Nebraska in the 2015 Big Ten/ACC Challenge. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. (ET) in Lincoln, Nebraska.
